I believe I climbed this on the way to Mt. Lowe. I did this so long ago it's hard to remember the hike. It isn't too far away from where I live so I should give it another go!
Covered this stretch on a little historical interest hike. Pretty cool artifacts and history. Although I've run by here before I never stopped to really get a sense of the place. It was a worthy trip
From Cobb Estate TH: hit Echo Mtn, Muir Pk, Inspiration Pk, Mt Markham and Mt Lowe. Hiked with Gordon, Coco the Dog, and Sophie the Dog on a very hot April day. Up Castle Canyon/East Lowe trails and down the Mt Lowe railline/West Lowe trails.
Very nice hike down history lane Date Climbed: Feb 10, 2008
Hiked up Echo Mountain by Sunset Ridge Trail up Millard Canyon and Echo Mountain Trail on a very warm day in February. Beautiful views down the city of Pasadena and beyond.
Like M.I. said, it is a great hike to continue up the Castle Canyon Trail from Echo Mountain to Inspiration Point, and make a loop coming down. The Lower Sam Merrill Trail is also a great night hike.
Ascents too Many to Count Date Climbed: Feb 3, 2007
A favorite easy trail run to the summit. For more of a workout, if I have time, I continue up the Castle Canyon Trail to Inspiration Point. Rather than back-tracking, I usually return via the Middle Sam Merrill Trail to Echo Mtn. adding an additonal mile on the return.
