Went up at dawn, passed some photographers about halfway along and then saw not another person until I was almost back at the the trailhead. With a digital camera this time, I didn't have the problem of running out of film before the summit that I had last time.
Very short hike, but scenic. Much more pleasant up there than at Zabriskie Point. The paved overlook at Zabriskie Point kind of ruins that spot for me.
We did some wandering in the area afterwards including Golden Canyon - Gower Gulch loop.
Easy, fun, scenic hike that leaves the crowds at Zabriskie Point behind. It is always worth it to stop at Z. Point because the scenery there is so beautiful, but it can be crowded. Not so out around Red Cathedral.
