chilkootRe: Beat the Rain

Glad you made it up there! I imagine a trip up the north side would involve some horrible bushwhacking. It is a big enough peak, it's too bad there's not a more challenging/pretty route to the top.

The mountainous interior of Puerto Rico is just spectacular ... a long way from San Juan. Considered trying to find my up the mountain from the north side but in the end decided to guarantee myself the summit being that I was so far from home. Chilkoot's directions were right on. Parked at the base of the one-lane road and hoofed it from there. Lots of clouds, but some views opened up periodically. After checking out some other vistas along Route 143, the skies opened up. A great and relaxing day in Puerto Rico ...

Great sunrise, could see the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Very nice up in the hills there.
