HIGH EXPEDITIONSRoute: Crater Rim.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 15, 2009

Hiked with Coral (USA). We hiked it in 5 hours... mostly because I get to learn the names of the flora of this region.

We finished the hike at 5:00 pm. An interest hike with good weather.

Great views of the surrounding mountains. We took many pictures of flowers during the hike, and guess what?.. we (Boriss and I) didn't pay for the entrance :).

Very enjoyable hike.. the weather was with us!

Christine (USA) and I started our hike at 9:00 am. Very windy at the begining of the hike, but the weather got better as soon as we got half way of the trail.

The trail is in perfect conditions!

Great views of Imbabura, Pichinchas and other mountains as well of the lowlands.

We finished the hike at noon. Total hiking time: 3 hours.

HIGH EXPEDITIONSRoute: Crater Rim  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 9, 2008

Beautiful day to hike the well maintained crater rim trail. I hiked with Janna (GER) and Barbara (GER).

We started the hike by the southern Trailhead. The trail was pretty dry with only a few spots of mud. We got halfway the trail and to the highest point (3,200 m) after half an hour of hiking. The three of us finished the hike at the Reserve entrance after 3 hours 20 minutes of hiking. Pretty fast ah?

Nice views of the surroundings from up there.

HIGH EXPEDITIONSNice weekend tour.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 22, 2006

Hired a truck from the town of Quiroga to Cuicocha. Short walk to the restaurant on the hill and a boat tour to the couple of small mountains in the center of the crater.

It is easy to see bubbles coming out of the water, showing the activity of this volcano. The boat driver (native guide) has good knowledge of the crater and surroundings.

Nice sunny day.
