| I scrambled up this peak one time in the late 90's. Like Bob says, it is a very visible peak, near a main trail, but not a lot of traffic. I have read that it was once an idea to name this peak, "Mt Fryxell" for Fritiof Fryxell, one of the great original climbing rangers. That name has not been officially given to the peak, but I think it would be very deserving. I hiked up when it was mostly snow, I had a great glissade on the way down. A great panorama awaits anyone who scrambles to this wonderful summit. Fryxell certainly deserves a peak named for him considering how much he had done to pioneer mountaineering in the Tetons, his book on the topic is a must read. |
