edgetlVia Standard Trail  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 19, 2009

Well, sort of successful. My girlfriend and I made it to East Trapper. I'm very proud of her though. She has a hip condition which bothered her the whole way and it was her first Mountain. The view was amazing. I never thought I would be able to stand on top of the Mountain I gazed at every day as kid growing up in the Bitteroot Valley.

The weather wasn't co-operating and our views were not as hoped. Made some good time hiking and enjoyed the company. Will definitely make another attempt to get those anticipated views.

Wasn't much of a view in the clouds but I love the feeling of isolation that they bring

Easy trail through lush forest. Went to East Trapper first, then up to main summit. Spectacular view of Bitterroot jagged ridges, lakes, forest, and rock glacier beneath North face. Could see the Missions, Pintlers, Beaverheads, and Bighorn Crags too. Great rugged mountain with nice approach.

Date Climbed: Aug 3, 2007

We picked Trapper as our first mountain ever. We chose it because it is the highest peak in the Bitterroots. My wife and two sons made the hike up the standard route. View from the top was very smoky due to all the fires last year...but it was still worth the effort!

Great view, great climb (if you go via Gem Lake). Just don't tell too many people! One of the all time classic camp sites.

NOO2breezy  Sucess!

Me and a buddy climbed trapper on a beautiful clear winter day. Then some front moved in and the winds were strong enough to blow us over, I don't know how fast that is. We dug a snow cave at 9300 feet and slept like babies. Woke up to another beautiful day.

It was a really nice day, a little hazy from fires in Idaho, but well worth the hike. We had the summit all to ourselves, too!
