seeksitEast side ascent is a great training hike  Sucess!

Starting from the Manor parking area or free Catoctin Furnace parking area, this hill is my staple for training. It is the best short distance trail with major vertical elevation change in the area--over 1000 feet in a mile and a half.

I started from the Ranger's HQ parking lot and hiked to Cat Rock first then continued on to Bob's Hill before returning to the HQ parking lot. A very nice hike in a light rain. Loved it.

tiogaCatoctin Trail  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 19, 2008

Climbed this during my two-day trip on the Catoctin Trail. Arrived on top in the early morning and really enjoyed the South Lookout. Sat on the rocks, with my legs dangling over the edge for a while. The North Lookout was not nearly as scenic, especially with trees overgrowing part of the lookout.

birdnyFall Day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 4, 2007

Climbed with my Step-daughter Myranda (7). It was a pretty long hike for her but she made it. Our biggest problem was we forgot about daylight savings and were running out of daylight! HAd to hurry back.
