| This was a LONG day. Started by hiking to Cracker Lake, and then ascended the long, and tiring, scree slopes to the summit. Views were incredible, and I hated to leave but storm clouds said otherwise. I decided to "shortcut" the descent by going down the north side, towards Josephine Lake. I did make good time until I hit treeline and then the nightmare began. The next mile was endless downfalls and brush that took about two hours to pick my way through. When I came out on the trail leading to Piegan Pass, I was one happy camper. All in all, this was a memorable traverse of this huge mountain. Try it for a different experience. |
