pyergernorth ridge  Sucess!

Took the boat across Waterton lakes, camped in a concrete shelter, with the BATS! the nexted morn. we hiked up the trail, found the north ridge. We then bushwacked up to 7000' cut over to the west face, and climbed some easy 5th class to the top.

Great Day!

This climb culminated my goal of completing the list of 58 current and former Ultra-prominence peaks in the 48 states. We had perfect but hot weather. Duane Gilliland also completed the list, and we believe we are the only two people on the planet to have done so. Greg Slayden and Grant Myers also summitted. We were only able to obtain camping permits at Kootenai Lakes, so summit day was over 6,000 feet EG and 16 hours RT. No grizzlies.

Date Climbed: Aug 5, 1998
I'm reconstructing the date a little bit. Know it was early to mid-August 1998. Climbed with Beth, Lori, some guy from Oklahoma and maybe someone else. Need to go back and look at the Photos. We got a undesignated permit for one night. Came in from Waterton and did a sick bushwack to the base of the peak from the Westside. Climbed the next day and took too long. I remember kicking a rock on Lori's head and swear to this day if I would've called rock, it would have hit her in the face. Stayed another night at the undesignated site. Came out the next day and eventually had the "chat" in Rocky's office. We received a round of applause from the tourists on the Waterton ferry (who were seated a generous distance away from us). Smooth climb overall, great views especially into the hole in the wall area.
