Have hiked there a few times from various starting points, and when I'm on a mountain-biking kick, I'll ride in the area almost weekly. Love the area and views. I live just down the hill from the Capitol, and have gotten stuck my head the aesthetic appeal of getting to a peak from my front door and back entirely by human power (no driving to a trailhead). So far this is the only peak I've done that for (it's 11 miles roundtrip, ~2000' vertical): spring 2009 by mountain bike (the easier method, obviously had to hike the last push), and now fall 2009 as a run (about 2 and a half hours roundtrip).

On our way to Little Black Mountain, Matthew Van Horn and I bagged both of these little bumps. The weather cleared briefly but returned with a vengence on Little Black.

this is a great alternative to more robust summit attempts. Planned on doing a more rugged peak, however with high winds and colder than expected temps at the higher elevations, this little set of peaks worked out great. The scenery is pretty spectacular without much effort.

edevartoh childhood  Sucess!

Used to romp around back here many times as a kid growing up in the aves. A neighbor once paid me twenty bucks to drag out a deer (utilizing a cheap plastic sled) that he had shot on the slopes up here. I was too young at the time to realize he had probably poached the thing.

ScottSeveral times

I've climbed this several times including at least once by city bus when my borther and I were 9-11 years old. We used to ride the bus and climb the foothill peaks (Ensign, Twin, Meridian) by ourselves.

I also climbed the peaks with my other siblings and with my father on our way to Black Mountain on April 18 1998, which was the last time I was there.
