| May 30, 2009 - Found a different route to the summit using the east ridge. This route includes a short section of Class 3 climbing.
June 21, 2008 - So, I'm descending the south face using new crampons and have almost reached the lower edge of the steep, well-consolidated snow. I step downhill with my left foot and sink to my knee. Off balance, I firmly plant a tooth of my right crampon into my left calf - a nice clean and deep puncture. Fortunately there were still 4 miles back to the trailhead which provided enough time (and movement) for the wound to drain well plus keep my partially-cut calf muscle from cramping up.
A very nice early-season hike with no long-lasting ill effects. |
