Climbed solo. Was a perfect sunny day. Went on to Cataract after this one. My profile photo was taken from this summit with Siyeh in the background.

distressbarknew way down?  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 14, 2009

summitted amidst fresh snow and thick fog with a group of hardy companions. initial plan was to traverse to Pollock and Bishops Cap before heading down Piegan Pass, but weather changed our plans. found out our compass was broke while lost in the fog in trying to descend back to Lunch Creek. eventually ended up descending the south side of the mountain, wrapping E/SE around Piegan Glacier. we climbed down a variety of class III and IV gullies until several hundred feet above the Going-to-the-Sun Road; found a game trail in a large, grassy area and took it south until the trail disappeared. scrambled down talus and bushwhacked for about 10 minutes before spitting out just west of Siyeh Bend.

Been up this one twice, the first time summiting Pollock first, then traversing over. Great place to take in the scenery, with a relatively low amount of effort. Highly recommended. Also a nice spring comes out of the side of the southwest slope, if you drop down that way. Good place for a drink.

Date Climbed: Aug 22, 2009

After 3 failed attempts in 2008 (all due to weather...2 of which we never even left the car) finally climbed this mountain. Still windy, but not as bad as last year...only spent 8 minutes at the summit due to wind, but what a REALLY FUN mountain to climb. Summitted with partners Cougar14 and Kitty.

Approached the saddle from Lunch Creek and then climbed up to the summit. Terrible wind just like last year. I only spent a few minutes at the summit and was ready to leave. Climbed with Rebelgrizz and JFK.

FlatheadJim2-3 ascents  Sucess!

A short approach from a high trailhead makes this an attractive climb.

did this in the afternoon as an introduction to Glacier NP. Upper Lunch Creek is very pretty and I nearly ran into a group of Bighorns. Plenty of loose rock to negotiate on the way up to the ridge. Good views from the top

Date Climbed: Oct 4, 2003

A beautiful wind free mid 70's late summer day. Crowds non-existent. A rare look at all the peaks without snow and the brown tundra surrounding Logan Pass. This made the list as one of my favorite climbs.

Also, made a trip up on 8/1/2004 after a long day on Bearhat the day before.

saintgrizzlyLunch Creek Approach  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 14, 2004

Enjoyable solo climb. Ascended via snow-filled couloir leading off to the right at the top of the large basin which provides entry (and through which Lunch Creek flows) to both Piegan and Pollock. Did the couloir to practice using crampons (which were an absolute necessity on the ice), but it would have been easy enough to avoid the couloir had I so chosen.

Mis-judged my water supply (that is, I drank it all!), and thus descended the SW-facing slope during one of the hottest days of the entire summer with nothing to drink; approximately half way down, just when the heat was becoming quite uncomfortable, I came across a spring flowing out of the mountain. Cold, cold, cold, and the best water I've ever had in my life!
