strangly count (aka saint)grizzly seems to recall climbing this a month earlier, but i'm fairly certain that he was the person behind me making all the smart ass comments. an infrequently climbed but a stunning peak which felt rather exposed. climbed along with east camas and 8766 under the leadership of mike hoyt.

This mountain ranks as one of the nicest, relatively "unknown" summits I've ever done! Nice, nice, nice! Boulder hopping, nice (for a change) bushwhacking, a bit of class four stuff on the summit block, then a nice (good word for this mountain!), small, airy summit with enough exposure you move with care. When you've summited West Camas, you actually feel you've done a mountain! More than glad to have shared this long day and climb with Mike and Meleah--and thanks to Mike for leading us up the thing (as well as Point 8766 & East Camas along the way)!

30jun09 - Climbed 5 summits today - East, Middle, & West Camas Peaks plus Camas and Lion Point. A great early season outing.

7aug08 - Climbed this plus Point 8766 and East Camas Peak during a variation of the Four Lakes Route with Vernon and Meleah. The weather, which looked like it would turn against us, cooperated, but we were eaten alive by mosquitoes, gnats, and black flies. Still, they didn't spoil our outing.

12jul08 - Bob Sihler and I made this one of the five summits we climbed during a point-to-point outing which began at the Camas Lakes Trailhead and finished at the standard trailhead for Ward Mountain. It was my first time on this great summit.
