| Following the directions on this page, we were past theSprucemont ghost town area when we were stopped by a snowbank. The road up from the main dirt track is VERY steep and
most folks should probably be content with hiking up from that point (which is more healthy anyway) It takes 4WD and a low gearing to go up a road that steep (the initial part on the way to the towers IMHO)
We hiked the remainer to the top, probably a couple miles and 16-1700 feet of elevation gain where we didn't stay long since we were getting snowed on. Lightning storms in the area also made our stay short as the thunder cells were moving towards the peak. This was our second peak of the day, with the first one being So. Pequop to the north. SP member Kadee and Ken Jones were my companions on this one. |
