sepraMalan's Basin from Taylor Canyon  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 17, 2009

Went with Lori up Taylor Canyon then attempted to go down waterfall. Ended up on top of the waterfall and couldn't find a safe decent. Finally backtracked the way we came. Pretty Hike though. We also did some exploring in the basin and found a lot of stinging nettle the hard way. There was also lots of angry ants and one rattlesnake by the creek.

Climbed up from 27th street, kept on going into Malan's Basin, then descended via Waterfall Canyon. It was a great day!
Saw a 3' rattlesnake on the trail leading out of the Basin to Waterfall canyon, but it was just snoozing and seemed to be in a good mood.

Not really a peak, but one of my favorite winter destinations.

It's the best hike around the Ogden area if you want a great workout, awesome scenery, and have a couple hours to burn. Been up there at least 20 times in the last 10 years.

I have been to the summit of this mountain numerous times. I'm usually good at keeping track of specific dates but I can’t remember them all. Malans Peak can be hiked year round and my favorite time is during winter. It’s a great workout for people that live nearby. Routes that I recommend are Taylor Canyon, Waterfall Canyon, and the West Face. The area that it is located in is full of history. My friend Dennis has been to the summit over 1,000 times.
