| Day Hiker | From the East  Date Climbed: Jul 4, 2004 | |
| U.S. Independence Day, 2004. Hiked up the road from here (elev 7888 feet). On the way up, bypassed the FAA station and went up the fire-burned chute, starting just below the final big switchback in the road. Went past the FAA station on the way down. Pennell's summit had a funky USGS benchmark that stood on a pole about a foot above the rocky ground. | |

| Took the North ridge. Had a great day with not a cloud in the sky. Awesome area! See Dean's picture of mine and Greg's original summit log. | |

| working in the area during the 90's I hiked all over this peak. Glad to see the addition Dean! unstable snow at times, careful during winter ascents. | |

| Summertime isn't the best time to do some of these desert peaks (90 degrees) but by going slowly and drinking lots of water, we hiked the 9 mile round tripper and came out fine. This is a neat peak and the views are expansive. We went up a road for a good portion of the hike with the last part following a rough path up to the summit. I was with my son in law on this one. | |
