| Climbed this peak back in '99 on one of my Great Basin peakbagging trips. All of the peaks above 10,000ft were snowed in that year, even in June, so I was climbing some of the lower peaks. As I recall, I climbed to the summit from near the high point of the road that approaches from the west. There was a rough road that followed a fence line to the north and took me up to the first hill on the route where the rough road petered out. From there I basically followed the ridgeline, to the northwest, skirting smaller peaks along the way. A lot of bushwhacking through mountain mahogany and sagebrush. At the top there are a few bristlecones, but you'd barely recognize them as such. They are small and don't appear to be very old. There was a summit register that hadn't been signed for over 3 years. |
