| Technically speaking, this was the last of the Northeast 115 for me. Although I qualified for the 111ers in 1997, a new survey bumped this mountain over the 4,000-foot mark and so I had to go back to tag it.
Strangely, this one caused me a bunch of trouble. On my first try, I got T-stormed off the mountain. On my second try, I drove through the night to get to the trailhead in late November, 1999 only to blow the head gasket on my truck. Limped it to the trailhead, but a combination of apathy, exhaustion and snow turned me back. Finally summited on my third try via a bushwhack from South Crocker. |
