tleafMany, many a time  Sucess!

I started climbing this mountain in 1990. I have no idea when or how many times. It is always enjoyable.

Took some inexperienced people from work (the casheers at REI) up but had to short-rope one to get across some dangerous snow gullys. Bring good footwear!

Date Climbed: Jul 2, 2009

Redwic and I had our warm up on Mount Ellinor before Washington. We had tentative plans to attempt the traverse but seen from Ellinor's summit, it appeared to be lacking the necessary snow cover. We returned to the car and then climbed Washington from the standard route. I was smart enough to leave my route book at home so there was some guess work involved. The weather was perfect if not too hot. I absolutely loved all the exposed ledges and scrambling near the summit although I could not have found the will to do it alone. This one will stand out in my mind for a long time.

RedwicTwo Summits, One Day!!!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 2, 2009

Fellow SPer "Gimpilator" and I first summited Mount Ellinor in the morning, taking in the views and seeing at least 15 mountain goats, but then wondered about also summiting neighboring peak Mount Washington via the ridgeline traverse between them. The traverse looked a little too dicey without snowpack covering the entire ridgeline, so we went all the way down to the trailhead and ascended Mount Washington from its south trailhead. 5700' elevation gain in one day was great. The route was gnarly in many places, and really tested all types of our scrambling abilities. It only took us 3h15m from trailhead to summit, and then only 2h50m from summit to trailhead. One of my all-time favorite hikes, and a day I will not soon forget.

YEMRoute 1  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 30, 2009

Glad to see this page resurrected. I climbed Washington from the winter road closure with my dog after a bivy in the lower basin. Great views and conditions as the clouds closed in. Only a few minutes later, the view was gone. That's motivation to get up early!

Rained on us the whole way up, snow mostly melted away leaving more rock and scree to deal with. Made it up to the top around noon and had poor visibility :( Great climb still. Next time will hope for some views.

NavySeabeeRoute 1  Sucess!

Climbed this in 1995 and 2002 via route one in the Olympic Climber's guide. Fun, classic Olympic scramble over good rock and spectacular views.

Brian JenkinsLong time ago  Sucess!

Have no idea on the date I did this. All that was contained in the previous incarnation of this page. Climbed with Radek and Shirley and Blondie a long time ago. Will have to look up and resubmit photos as I think this was the one I belayed Radek and a harnessed Blondie up a wet snowy slab. Fun times. Ran into Patrick Wang at the summit, RIP. Climbed Mt. Angeles the following day I think unless I am getting this mixed up with The Brothers.
