WasatchvoyageCold December day.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 11, 2009

With a cold front hitting the Wasatch and heavy snowfall predicted, I decided that this peak would be a good one. Also the fact that the average temps were around 15' kept the snakes at bay. Hit up the mountain from the east, up the ridge and up and over a few smaller cliff bands. Had the opportunity to sign and read the summit register. Like Brad said the odor from the magnesium plant was pretty intense. Cool isolated desert peak.

Date Climbed: Oct 31, 2009

Although there had been a few snow falls, it was all gone and I couldn't help but think the snakes might come out for one last sunbathing day. Great area but I won't come back without snow on the ground. The whole way up all I could see was the picture on this webpage of the snake. Came up from the north. Hiked with Greg. We came back the next week and hiked Black Mountain - just to the north of Craner.

One of my favorite places to be. I have spent many years walking around this mountain. Yes, the snakes can be bad. It only takes one to ruin your day..

Went in via Craner Canyon and dodged rattlesnakes on the way up.
At least I didn't have to dodge any thunderstorms as the rattlers were enough.
