| Unbelievable hike for mid-January. Sun shining, low-fifties, and very little snow - only in Colorado's Arkansas Valley. I broke off the trail not far from Tanner Peak and summited several lower points to the northwest of Tanner. The views of Pikes Peak and the canyon country west of Canon City were amazing. The Sangres were partially visible. Spending too much of the day hiking these smaller outcroppings, I ran out of time and failed to summit Tanner. Maybe next time. |
