This is a hard mountain to erect a compelling page about. Info in the summit logs about other routes is interesting and informative.

I've updated this one. I doubt it's any more "compelling" than before. "Cautionary" may be closer to the mark. My main objective has been to make clear that the Jennings Creek route is closed. I've seen this confusion firsthand.

The routes on this mountain are problematic. Whether going over from Shavano or up from Browns Creek, one is bound to end up contributing to erosional damage to the scree and talus of its slopes. I believe there may be some CFI trailwork up there this summer that will help lessen some of the traffic's damaging effects. I hope to be the first to report the success.

The page is looking better. You could attach some of the photos to the overview or other sections and it may enhance the page a bit. Otherwise, thanks for adopting and improving. Alan

I've updated this one. It's still "kind of thin." This just isn't a very "thick" mountain to begin with...

That said, my main objective has been to make clear that the Jennings Creek route is closed. I was up there the day after the trailhead was removed and the confusion was immediately apparent. I listened to more than a few "We drove around for 45 minutes and couldn't find the trailhead" stories that day.

I'm keeping an eye out towards the future on this one. I believe that the CFI plans to do some trailwork up there this summer in hopes of establishing a sustainable route. I'll update accordingly. Right now, the two viable routes, over Shavano and up Browns Creek, both entail a lot of scree and talus navigation and it's hard to recommend them.

Thanks for the vote Kane. You're timing is uncanny. Just this morning I was up on Antero trying to get a signature shot for the page.

I like it but there are some good pictures that could be attached to the text sections.

Oops. I've been meaning to attach some shots to the main page. What it really needs is a few naked co-ed shots to liven things up.

Looking good. I have climbed Tabeguache, but I have been kicked off of Shavano twice because of bad weather.

the overview is very well written. I was lucky enough to acesnd the Jennings Creek route a few months before the closure. This was a fun and exciting route.

On a light note, some climbers may find it useful to include a note on "how the heck to pronounce the name of this mountain" (tab-a-watch). For many of us, it's not first nature to properly pronounce Ute words. Just a thought. Climb safely.

You're right, it is not a pronunciation that cames first nature. In fact, I don't pronounce it quite like you have above; I use a softer "ch" at the end that comes out more like "wash." A quick Google of "pronounce Tabeguache" yields a mixture of both pronunciations, with the occasional variant thrown in, but "watch" seems to be preferred. I'll take that as good enough and note that on the page.

Presumably, the spelling Tabeguache is of Spanish origin and is phonetic. In that case the pronunciation would be closer to tah-bay-WAH-chay...
