Kane,

Beautiful work on the Grizzly Peak page. I seem to have fallen into the trap of forgeting about the Sawatch! It ain't all crowded overpopular fourteeners! Nice photos too.

Very good information, on a beautiful mountain. I understand this Grizzly Peak used to be considered a fourteener, but is now merely the state's highest thirteener.

Hi Larry, thanks for the vote. I climbed Grizzly a while ago and remember it to be a nice hike to a nice Sawatch-type summit. I also remember some erosion issues on its lower slopes. This is one of those mountains that may need some future help with the construction of a minor trail to its summit.

Since then I have discovered a few different routes that i may one day use to summit this one again.

I know you recently adopted this, but I just realized while looking at it that I've never voted on it. I was up there today and had the mountain to myself.

It's an impressive peak when viewed from McNasser.

I hiked up to the old mining area at the end of the road. From there I made my way through the willows with ease and made a rising traverse to the small rock band above the grass slopes. I passed through it and made my way up the loose stuff to the saddle. From there I found the trail to the summit.

On the return I found a better gully that had some grass and was a bit more stable. It dropped me out in the small saddle just as McNasser Gulch starts it's climb to the small lake below Garfield.

I had intended to do Garfield on the way up and traverse the south ridge to Grizzly but the weather wasn't looking very good even that early.
