Great page Ari. There are the sort of pages that set summit post apart from similar sites, we should create for all areas.

This makes getting the nessecary info easy and gives you an Idea of the best area for your trip.

Cheers

Nice page. But is this a "massif" or a range of mountains or a national park? Or something else? I realize that there was some disagreement on the actual definition of a massif... In any case, quite a nice page, with guidebook-level (and more) introduction to the place.

Jotunheimen most definitely is not a massif if you define a massif as a chain or group of mountains grown together. It's more of a range or area. On the other hand, Mont Blanc area (which is actually more of an area or sub-range of Alps to me) is often called massif. To me a true Mont Blanc Massif consist of Mont Blanc, Mont Blanc du Tacul, Mont Maudit, Dome du Gouter, Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey, Aiguille Noire de Peuterey, Aiguille Bionassay etc. But most certainly not of i.e. Aiguille Verte, Les Courtes or Grandes Jorasses. For this reason I changed the name for AREA. I am actually not that satisfied with that either, so will propably change it again when I come up with something better.

Although part of Jotunheimen is also a national park, that is, in my opinion, completely different thing. National park is more or less a political term, whereas massif, area and range all are geographical terms.

Hi Ari,

excellent page! And thanks a lot for all your great and very useful additions to many different mountain-pages of other SP-members! But pay attention: If you continue in this way, you will be one of the best candidates whom the webmaster calls "fanatic members"!! Be aware of what you are doing!

Cheers, Rahel
