I have been wanting to see this mountain on SP for quite a while. I'm glad it's finally added. Good Job! Mt. Baldy is AZ's 5th official highest mountian, but 7th highest point. Aubinau and Rees Peaks are just named high points along Humphreys ridge. They do not qualify for being ranked mountains.

Good page, lots of good info. I'll see if I can come across some old pics to add. Good work.

Very nice mountain page. Mountain 147 miles NE of Gavilan peak. Clothed in spruce and fir not cacti!

surgentNorth Peak vs. South Peak

Great Page! Comment: the south peak - Baldy Peak - is the 'forbidden' peak as it's on the White Mountain Apache lands, but the north peak - the elongated ridge - has a larger 11,400-foot contour and on both visits I sighted and it seemed that the north peak was higher by a couple of feet. Even so I have visited the south peak on each visit, too, to be sure. Although the south peak isn't aggressively patrolled, bear in mind there is an easy access road from the Res side that the locals use to get up (the general public is barred), and on one visit the summit was adorned in new, beautiful Indian offerings. So yes, it is visited... just use your common sense.
