I plan on climbing El Capitan, an unnamed peak in the Guadalupes, and Mt. Livermore this winter. I tried El Capitan last winter but it was too foggy and I got lost.

I'll probably go 2 or 3 times this year. I like December through February to go out there, but I am flexible. I may go out to see the fall colors too depending on when the peak is. I am looking forward to El Cap. That should be a sweet summit. Let me know what dates would be best for you and we can plan something.

Here is the topo of the unnamed peak I want to check out. It will require some bushwacking. It is about as central as you can get in the Guadalupes and I wonder if anyone has been on its summit. It is the 7th highest Texas summit.

My Jan and Feb are booked. December is a possibility.....maybe the 1st or 2nd weekend. I would only have a 4-day weekend with 2 days at the park and 2 days driving. GPNP is a 12 hr drive for me.

Is 8342 on the GMNP Trails Illustrated map? If so, where?

A bushwhack sounds fun. I have a hellava GPS.

Wonderful work on all the Texas peaks ATTM.

I wish I had taken more advantage of the Texas alpine country during my days at A & M.
