Thanks. I hadn't even finished when you voted! I plan on El Cap soon. I don't have a good photo from below so if you have one let me know. Too bad I can't use the picture on the cover of Michael Allender's book. I'm sure I will be climbing it this winter so I should have some good photos then. Let's get out there. There is some fun stuff to do. El Cap should be awesome looking down on those cliffs.

I'm there. Let's go. I hope it snows. Snow makes it so much better. Especially since it still isn't very cold even with the snow.

Have you ever hiked up to McKittrick Ridge?

Well done. I bet that snow melts pretty fast in Texas!

Very good job on this peak page. I lived in Texas for 21 years but, alas, never saw these mountains. It's a big state.

Belated thanks for the vote. I lived here a long time before I got up into these mountains. Now it's an annual event.

Very nice page. It brings back some fond memories. I spent a lot of time in the Bush Mountain area in conjunction with several geologic research projects. A beautiful and adventurous place to hang out for several months. I haven't been back to Bush Mountain since 1987 and seeing your page and the photos, which still make it seem just like yesterday that I was there, have stirred an urge to get back up there.

I return to the Guadalupe Mountains from time to time, mostly to lead geology trips for students from the University of Kansas. We go up the Mckittrick Canyon trail to the top of the ridge (great geology markers and guide from the park for that) and the basal portions of the western escarpment which we access from Williams Ranch.

Thanks for the vote. Check out the rest of the Guadalupe Mountain pages. I maintain them all. I love the Guadalupes. The Permian Reef Geology Trail is one of the best in the parks and not crowded like some of the others.
