Hey Brian,

went over there over the THanksgiving weekend (slightly extended)....a 5th ann. gift from ourselves :)

It was OK - after getting into climbing, scuba just doesn't tickle us as much I guess.

I'll probably climb one day. The wife always wants to go to Hawaii. Nice page.

We're thinking of going to Hawaii this winter (2004). I don't know if we'll get to this one, we hope to focus on the National Park on the Big Island. Your page is informative, though. Thanks for another possibility.

Thanks for the vote Aaron.

We've hit the Big Island on our first outing to HI. Seemed like more fun than Kauai and - if you're into it - had MUCH better scuba than Kauai! The NP on the island was kind of cool too.

have fun!

Good page, Radek. I know how it feels to be away from mountains and trails and have to do one of the little ones. This one is a nice surprise, though - climbed it in the fall of '95 on a visit to an old freind of mine who lives about three miles upslope from it. After going through hurricane Iniki a few years ago, he wanted something substantial between him and the ocean!

best regards,

Don

Don,

thanks for the good vote.

It woud've been really nice to try that highest point on the island (no recorded modern day ascent!!!...as far as I read a few years ago anyway) but hard core multi-day bushwhacking was not on the agenda.

Yeah, I agree on nice to try the high point - I went up the road as far as I could go on a later trip to the island but the mosquitos, rain, mist, etc. soured me on going further. No wonder no modern day ascent info!
