This mountain is one of the highest peaks in a pleasantly timbered area. Be sure to check out Hamilton Mesa as well as the peak. It is about 88 miles south of Culebra Peak in Co.

very nice! New Mexico is a great state to do early season hiking.

Sometimes you can do early season hiking. I was in waist deep snow when attempting Whitewater Baldy way down south in the Gila Wilderness and had to turn around 1500 ft. from the summit in March. Over Memorial Day I had to turn around on an attempt of the Truchas Peaks due to deep snow and avalanche danger.
