Voted 10/10 | Jim, I'm glad you posted this beautiful mountain. Every time I ascend to the summit of an LCW summit and look west; the first thing I do to orient myself with the Mosquito Range is to look for the "distinctive" and perfectly shaped Horseshoe Mountain. Great Job. | |

Voted 10/10 | Jim, Very nice page on a pleasant mountain. I realy like your photos of the snow draped cirque. Horseshoe Mountain has another distinuishing feature... It is one of the few high summits in the Mosquito Range composed of the Leadville Limestone. This marine sedimentary rock gives the cirque its stratified appearence. From a shollow sea to 13,000 ft... ah I love geology! Good job. It was nice to meet you on Guyot. Jon | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the vote. Thanks also for putting up some pictures of it from the west side. You've got a good eye! I've trained myself for a few years to identify the Mosquito peaks when seen from the west and can only pick out Horseshoe on a good day. :) | |
