Looks like a cool area with a free standing tower. Glad to see you made it. Maybe it was warmer than the 2004 trip. Still 5100 feet should make it fairly cool this time of year.

Yes, and it photographs well from any angle. Thanks for the vote.

Good page...and a good "launching pad" for members who have climbed this to describe some routes.

Great page! How does Independence Monument compare to Lizard Head Peak?

I have never climbed Lizard Head, but I have climbed "Indy" and have spoken with other climbers who have experience on Lizard Head. "Indy" has good footing solid protection and could quite possibly be one of the easiest monoliths to ascend. You can thank John Otto for the easy ascent (it should be noted that more difficult routes are available on Independence, including some aid routes).

However, I have heard that Lizard Head is more challenging by virtue of its loose rock.

I appreciate your vote of confidence. Concerning SP, I only wonder why it took me so long to discover it.

Now that's a rock spire! Nice job Larry. Going forward, please let me know in the "What's New Colorado" thread when you submit a mountain, route or TR. I got to this one a little late.
