Voted 10/10 | Nicely done page- detailed, with good information! This formation had my attention all the time it was within sight while I was in the area- impressive!! I hope, however, that not too many people try to climb this (or off of the trails around it), as this has to be one of the most fragile environments I've ever visited. | |

Hasn't voted | True, the Badlands are quite fragile, but the Beacon has rather good consolidation. That's why it has withstood the erosion that's washed away the rest of the surrounding hillsides. There are a few packed trails up the ridges of the Beacon that provide good purchase and once you're on the spine it's pretty hard packed. Still I agree that too many people in the area will cause the pristine nature of the Badlands to be degreded. Thanks for you post and vote. Brian | |
