Guess I missed this on "What's New Page" when you just posted it.....nice addition. Collection of Columbia Gorge formations is growing nicely :)

Look forward to doing this hike.

Thanks for the vote and compliment. Yeah, more gorge peaks to come - I've got another half dozen in the works but my "real" job is such a pain sometimes!

Hey Brian,

Somehow I missed seeing your vote and comment on this page so here's a late thanks-for-the-vote!

I was thinking about a Herman Creek/Tomlike/Chinidere/Eagle Creek asskicker on the next available day. I've never done both in a day from the lower trailheads. Now that we are both sufficiently "baptized" in gorge trails sufferings I thought you might like to give it a try. The whole enchilada is about 8,000 vertical and about 35 miles but a car shuttle would cut it back to less than 28 and cut the vertical by at least a thousand feet.

No pain - no gain!

Yer nuts. My knees are still recovering from the Tanner trip and I'm supposed to do Hood in 2 days.

You are an evil, evil man, Don Nelsen. Somehow you have managed to reverse the aging process and appear to be getting younger and stronger as time goes by. Perhaps you found that mythical Fountain of Youth on one of your California trips.

Honestly, I don't think I can repeat even the Tanner one. I plan on sticking to trips 20 miles and under. Would love to hike again with you but think "smaller", not "grander". :- )

(PS I did the Munra Point trail today. Have photos to post if you should decide to put that one up as a page.)

Thank you , thank you! -- actually, its all that unfiltered spring water.

Glad you made it up to Munra - is that an interesting place or what?! You'll have to check it out in the spring, though, the flowers really make it a treat. I'm not sure about Munra as a separate page - perhaps included in a "Gorge Viewpoints" or "Gorge Ridges" page. There's so many cool spots up there.

Sorry your knees took a beating. I must say, you impressed me on that hike, that's the most I'd ever done in a day in the winter. (btw, I took another look at the elevation and I'm inclined to believe the guidebook you mentioned that said it was 5,500' vertical.)

Take care

and lets do another hike soon,

Don

If only you had known how I secretly sobbed in pain and agony as I hiked behind you. Each step like walking on broken glass. Trying not to pass out at the pace. You would not have seemed so impressed had you known.............................

;- )

(yeah, I am sure we'll get in another hike soon. perhaps that Munra loop we were emailing about today.)

Now I feel guilty! Waaaaah! You will heal though, and be stronger!

Yes, Let's do a Munra loop. It looks like about 12 miles total if we take in Yeon Mountain's Nesmith Point and come back on #400. Don't know if it CAN be done but it looks like it. In any event, It should be a fun outing.-- Weekend of Feb. 12-13?

Won't know until after this weekend. Supposed to do Mt. Baring on Sunday but it may get pushed back a week. I'll check with Mark too as he was very interested in this one.

Oregon looks like a really cool state.

Thanks for the vote. Yes, Oregon (and its neighbor, Washington) are cool. I could live another 100 years and never run out of great places to visit and mountains to climb. Less than 5 percent of the peaks in WA and OR are posted on SP, so far. Of course, most of the best ones are up, but lots of peaks, even ones over 9000 are yet to be posted.
