Is this where you go to get a nice tan?

Tan, my ass! I nearly froze to death on my first climb up this one. ('course, if I'd have worn more than a t-shirt it would'a helped.)

Thanks for the good vote - hope to meet ya at the sp getogether thurs.!

OK, so now I know my next Gorge objective. Keep the pages coming.

Sidenote-I was looking on my Topo CD last night and it appeared there might be a route that would only be 13 miles round trip from the southwest with 1900 feet of elevation if you go to the end of Road 2030 (which you get to by taking a maze of roads that start in Corbett and go Louden Road to Larch Mountain Road to Rd 15 to Rd 20 to 2030). Maybe I should print out some maps and bring them Thursday to the get-together and see what you think.

Yes, please bring the maps. Many of the roads that used to be open are now gated but it would be good to find out a shorter way!

I wondered about that, and also if any roads are now closed since some come close to Bull Run and the water supply. Will see you Thursday.

I did this one back in Nov. '02. All I can say about this one "It kicked my behind" I read about it in an older book of hikes. Older than the gate by the water tower. I wasn't expecting the additional four miles. My knees were killing me after walking the last two miles on the hard gravel road. The day I went was rainy, windy, & foggy. I couldn't see a thing when I got to the top. The only good out of that day was, first I met my goal of baggin this peak, second I beat the almighty Mazama group to the top. Your pics and discription are what I've been waiting for to get me to go again (on a clear day). Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Karl,

Thanks for the vote and the kind comments. I know what you mean by getting your behind kicked by Tanner Butte! There's just no easy way to do this one. Let me know if you'de like to give it a try again. Might as well take advantage of this snowless winter.

Best regards,

Don

Another way to use Eagle Creek trail wisely. Eagle Creek is truely one of my alltime favorite hikes and I need to do the loop sometime as well. Nice page Don.
