Hasn't voted | Four, so far. Working on the fifth now. May put up a sixth tomorrow. Yes, the Black Mountains are an impressive range. A lot of peopel don't realize how close they came to national park status. They were barely beaten out by the Smokies, and so we have the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blacks were left to National Forest and state park status. | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks! I had a blast, but the trail was really rugged and I got pretty dehydrated. I think the altitude affected me a little (don't laugh). I know it's not that high by Rocky Mountain standards, but I hiked for about ten miles and rarely fell much below 6,000 feet. Read my trip report at my Mount Craig post. Had some weird physical things going on that I'd never experienced while hiking. | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks! I haven't been able to finish figuring the verticals on this route. It's a very, very tough trail. Down from Mitchell into a gap, then up to Craig. Then down into a gap and up to Big Tom. Then down into a very deep gap and up to Balsam Cone. Then down to a gap and up to Cattail, and so on. I'll tote up the vertical and post it as soon as I can. | |
