Yep and there are plenty more that need to be on SummitPost. Even for a Texan though, these mountains are a long way away. Thanks for the vote!

Nicely done. Looks like an oven in the summer!

Thanks for the vote from way up high on your ivory tower.

Yep, it is an oven sometimes. But believe it or not, the first time I went to Big Bend in 1979 was in August and we nearly froze our asses off. We nearly didn't go because we thought it was going to be hot so when we did decide to go, we brought hot weather clothes. Casa Grande was covered in fog most of the time and the wind was howling. The Chisos mountains rise up 6000 ft. from the Rio Grande so they can produce their own weather up there. The Chisos get twice as much precip as it does down below. I still wouldn't go again in summer. Winter is unbelievably perfect most of the time.

I'm not sure how I'd react to climbing desert mountains--probably I'd like it, but I'm DEFINITELY sure I like looking at them! Thanks (again) for showing me a side of Texas I didn't know existed!

Thanks for the vote! There are plenty more of these peaks in Texas. Climbing them in the winter is great. It is like climbing in Colorado in the summer with no thunderstorm threats.
