Very interesting page, good information, great pictures. I've always found New Zealand to be very interesting due to the incredible variations and extremes in its geography.

Thanks. It was definitely an amazing place, but frustrating due to really bad weather. We could see the ocean from the summit of Lendenfeld. Pretty amazing.

How are the glaciers and ice fields holding up in New Zealand?

Good page. The Southern Alps are great, that is, when the weather co-operates!

Great page! A friend of mine just returned from NZ and made my mouth water. And now you're doing the same. If it weren't for the 40h plane ride....

Very nice page. It's great to see some more Kiwi peaks on SP. I was down in NZ in September for two wonderful weeks. We spent a day or two walking about on the Fox Glacier trying to figure out what mountain was which (I understand you can't see Cook or Tasman from that side very easily). Is Ledenfeld visible from the west?

It depends how high you were on the Fox Glacier. You can definitely see Mt Tasman from the Pioneer Hut. But if you went on one of the glacier walks on the lower, icy part of the glacier, you wouldn't have been able to see it. You can see Mt Cook really well from the summit of Lendenfeld, but I neglected to take a picture, since the cornice was making me nervous..

Here is what Mount Tasman looks like from the Pioneer Hut (on the upper Fox Glacier).

We never got off the lower glacier, unfortunately. Here's the view we saw.

Thanks! It was my first time using a digital camera - just bought one for the trip to NZ. The shots turned out pretty well.

Nice page! Looks like a serious mountain. Hope to get down to that part of the world some day and see it for myself. Thanks!
