Nice page, but might I suggest either Hood Mountain or Mount Hood for your title, not both, it may confuse the reader.

Good page. On the topozone it apprears that there is a shorter route up the mountain from the north?

Suggest Mount Hood for the title and leave off Hood Mountain. Mount Hood is what is shown on maps.

Nice page. I often forget that there are some nice mountains west of the Sierra/Cascade line. What is the geologic nature of the rocks? I'm guessing volcanic but...Looks like a nice spring trip to do.

My 1963 State of California Santa Rosa quad geologic map shows the summit area as "Pliocene Volcanic--Rhyolite." I recall seeing some agglomerates--see the photos--which the trail passes right through. There's a few more photos of the rocks, under Getting There photos. There are also some Mesozoic Ultrabasic Intrusive rocks in the area.

Nice page (& nice website).

I know you listed the trail info. under Getting There section - maybe you could add it as a separate route page?

"I was on Hood Mountain last Saturday. The trail from Adobe Canyon Road is
closed for trail maintenance from March 20- May1, 2007. The California
Conservation Corps is rebuilding a slide area and some eroded areas.

FYI, the TH is 2.1 miles from Hwy 12 and it is another 1.2 miles to the
pay station for the State Park.
