Seems you had a real good trip. Good views of the Smokies despite some clould cover. I have heard about this mountain before but have never been there.

	Hasn't voted	Thanks! The cloud cover wasn't too bad when I first hit the summit. Later in the evening it got pretty thick and by about 3:00 am or so there was sleet and freezing rain. Temperatures went up pretty fast after about 8:00 am and it all melted. It's a spectacular peak. I'm glad the views were still to be had when I got up there. If you do go, the trap door on the room at the top of the firetower has come loose and you can go up there, but I would definitely not recommend it. I took one look at that floor and retreated--very rotten. The Park Service apparently only uses that tower for some meteorological readings and they don't seem to care if the top rots away.

Well-written page for a nice area. I liked those shots of the trail that climbs through the thick forest. Thanks for posting!

In the title of the route page, there's a "ridg" instead of "ridge." I don't know if the problem is truncation due to excessive length, or just a mere typo.

Nice job. I can't help comparing the green in the shots with my day yesterday: mostly wandering up and down a river - on top of about two feet of ice.
