very well written, good information about both sides of the mountain.

One comment: It' s not my experience that parties that go therewith ski in spring use the rope when climbing on a common glacier track

Hi Mathias. For skimountaineering indeed rope would not be necessary, I agree. But for snowshoeing (that's what I'm doing) it is a different story. You move much slower and have more weigth per area. Last winter (February 2005) there was quite some wind blown snow on the Jamtalferner with some places covered with much snow, but at some places you could actually see open crevasses.
