Good page as always! Except for the pressence of roads and trees, it does not look unlike parts of the Tibetan plateau - which is also very volcanically active -. I have that nasty feeling that the inhabitants of the Canaries sit in the wrong place in the long run. The volcanoes might be dormant for a long time but that won't be forever. And when the shit hits the fan...........

San Antonio must be one of the newest mountains on earth. I do see the Canary Island pines taking over some areas but much looks like brand new real estate. Very cool flower picture. Good addition to Atlantic mountains.

Thanks Mark. New is relative of course. On an overall scale 350 years are not much for a mountain :-)

Nice page. I just noticed that airfares from the USA to the Canaries are pretty low, in fact they are cheaper than going to many closer places-it was $600 round trip out of Salt Lake City or Denver.

We're always looking for new places to take the kids in winter; especially to places with good hiking and trekking.

Are the Canaries pretty kid friendly?

Thanks Bor! Yeah those mountains are often named after some Saint. What about Volcan San Francisco?

Oddly, we have a fairly prominent skier/climber here in the PNW whose name is Antonio Volken.

Okay, that's a lie and I'm no comedian but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Pretty extended family, these Volkens, aren't they? The Mexican Japanese twins Antonio San and Juan San and their little second cousin, little TeneguĂa Volken. But watch out for the matriarch, mighty Deseada Volken...

Thanks man!

It seems like your pages always have something that is a little new like the 360 degree panorama. Nice work.

Thanks wildstar. Actually I wanted to delete that pano again since it is so small. Now I'm going to leave it....
