Hasn't voted | Named by Alpine Club of Canada in 1907. Edmund Whymper named The President in honor of the CPR's president, Thomas Shaughnessy and The Vice President in honor of its vice-president, David McNicoll. Yeah, most of the mountains in the Canadian Rockies are somewhat named aristocratically (i.e., McKinley vs Denali). We have kept a few native names, like Wapta, etc. Wish we would have kept more. Some of the glaciers are receding before our eyes Sean. At times you need to use a recent trip report or be faced with a route that no longer exists. Thanks! | |

Voted 10/10 | Good job and fantastic photos. I'd rename the route - something like "President Glacier" - to distinguish it from other possible routes that also reach both peaks. (Who knows, maybe somebody will rock-climb alongside the falls some day.) I'd also like to see something under Mountain Conditions - a word about prevailing weather, links to forecasts, that kind of thing. | |

Hasn't voted | Nicely done. Same old comment about going back and adding links on main page. As part of page maintenance, you also will need to go back through all your pages on occasion and check the links - the NPS just changed the Glacier National Park website around causing me to have to do updates on every one of my Glacier peaks. Kind of a pain. | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Fury, just drove through (well really by) Winnipeg for the first time ever on our latest road trip completed last week. In fact my first time in Manitoba. Went for a great run through the Spruce Wood Prov Park until we ran into hunters clad in orange, for good reason no doubt. Cheers. A ton of good scrambles back into Pres/V Pres as well. | |

Voted 10/10 | Hi Dow, To bad you couldn't stop for a beer. Spruce Woods Provincial Park is great! I enjoy skiing and hiking the Epinette Creek trail system. If you drove east from Winnipeg you would have also encoutered some great parks in the Canadian Shield. Around Kenora (just into Ontaria) is where Winnipegers generally climb. Nice granite cliffs! Hope you enjoyed MB. - Colin | |
