Granodiorite looks good. Probably not the best climbing material but certainly impressive looking. I had never heard about that type of rock before...

Looks like an American edition of the Dolomites. Great page.

Thanks for the vote. 20 miles and 5000' elevation gain in a day (approx) may or may not be doable and / or fun for you (It would likely be too easy for Matthew). Personally I just wanted to get away for the weekend and relax. Different strokes ... your opinion may vary.

Nice page and excellent photos!

Hmmmm: "granodiorite" - Isn't diorite granitic - in which case granodiorite would be a redundant redundancy?

Cool page, Rob. I haven't hiked in this area yet, but it looks pretty nice in your photos.

Strazzmancool peak...

Voted 10/10

hey, I lived in Arnold for a long time and love hiking out there. Never been to this peak, is it hard to get to from highway 4?
Thanks

I think starting from highway 4 would simply lengthen the approach. You might have a look at Mr. Schaffer's guidebook, and / or the USFS map of the Carson-Iceberg wilderness. More than likely you could make a long trip out of it and bag numerous other peaks along the way. Try posting to the California forum for more info. Cheers !
