
Hasn't voted | Thanks for the suggestion about the link and for posting some nice pictures. It was my first time on Cima Brenta, but Gabriele has dug up a picture from a few years back that shows the extent of the change at the top of Vedretta Nord. The crossing proper is probably easier now, because there is no snow. However, said crossing is at least two meters lower than it used to be. The descent into the notch and the ascent out of it are UIAA III, more or less. The vedretta itself is downright scary. There were two spontaneous rockfalls while we were there, one of them pretty sizable.
I was happy to be back in the Brenta Dolomites after 21 years, but the demise of the vedrettas was definitely a sad note. |
