Strange mountain....looks like a pile of leftovers from a nearby powerplant. But your page is welldone as always.

A nearby powerplant? Luckily there aren't any in the area. It's a strange ridge for sure - lots of different kinds of rock - right there in the middle of the Dolomites...

Thanks for your kind vote!

Great page. Seems like obscure peaks are the only ones left to add to SP but that is a good thing!!!

Thanks Nader! There are quite some well known peaks left but there are only few people who have climbed them. Less who would write about them. And none of these are SP-members.

I'm one of the many who have gone through Passo San Pellegrino (more than once) without paying too much attention to Punta Allochet. Fortunately, the legacy of famed German XIX century scholarship survives in you. Any idea on the origin of the name? Some very nice pictures, in spite of the haze.

My usual proofreading report:

Monzonie -> Monzoni

punta allochet -> Punta Allochet

Thanks Fabio! I'm afraid I don't have anything to say about the name. To me it sounds more Italian than Ladinian but Gabriele would probably prove me wrong. I have no idea...

Nice pictures Gangolf.

Flintstone! Are there other examples of this kind of rock in the eastern Alps?

Surprising place...! I never paid attention to such a place/name. I'll try to tell you more. Nevertheless, the job is "Gangolf made" as usual...:)))

Thanks Claude, also for the try for a name explanation. I'm not sure if these plants were there. I googled them and nothing I saw resembles those :-(
