Didn't know Indian Peaks and RMNP overlapped. Nice page.

They just abut. Ogalalla's summit is on the border.

Thanks!

I voted on all the pix and thought your signature a good choice.

Good links and a fine page

Thanks! The weather wasn' t really cooperative and the pictures turned out a little gloomy, but I hope some of them will prove useful.

Great page Fabio. Congrats on your solo trip back there. Guess this one is on my list if I still want all the Park's 13'ers!

Thanks, also for catching the typo. I'm not an authority on camping, but I guess it would make sense to climb Ogalalla and Copeland from Pear Lake in three or four days. (Those twenty miles are so long!)

Tahnks! I could have used a little more sunshine, and i'm still sore from those twenty miles, but it was fun.

Very nice page Fabio. You simply have to love the name Ogalalla. Beautiful sound. :-)

Thanks, Gangolf. Yes, I like the sound of Ogalalla. However, from what I read, the pronounciation in Lakota is closer to Okala. Without the extra syllable that was stuffed in somehow, makes, the assonance with "Ooh La La!" which is the unofficial name of a nearby peak, is even better. The name "Ooh La La!" is probably due to local climbing authority Gerry Roach, who must have been inspired by the place. From Cony Lake came Cony Express, and then Ogalalla Express and Ooh La La Express. Vrain Drain also has the right ring to it. A cony (also coney or pika) is a small rodent: not a good replacement for a pony in general.

Speaking of Oh La La: On Corsica, when we hiked to Lac de Nino (featured on this page a french couple was behind us. The man started ohlala-ing when he came to the pass which overlooks the lake with the Rotondo Massif behind. It was breathtaking all right (my shot didn't capture half of the beauty) but this guy kept ohlala-ing for minutes.

It quite spoiled the moment though in principle those were the correct words:

Oh La La!
