Hasn't voted | I think this a better starting point for a climb from the desert floor. Just before the first road switchback and almost directly across from the hogback creek road is an unsigned dirt road leading off from the S side of the W.P. road. Follow this road a couple hundred yards down to turnaround at LP creek. Park there or in winter at a wide area at the high point of road. (In winter you run the risk of boulders falling down on roadbed and trapping your vehicle at the bottom)Climb out of LP creek drainage at any convienient spot after crossing creek at concrete impoundment. Heading SW you will very shortly cut the above mentioned Portal trail. |
