TCart215Suggestions on Route

If you're attempting to climb Mount of the Holy Cross from Lake Constantine, I would suggest an alternative route. First of all, the trail up to the Tuhare Lakes is clear (though narrow and steep in several areas). Instead of branching off to climb the point north of the lower Tuhare Lake (as mentioned in the route details), I would suggest you consider climbing up to the Upper Tuhare Lake, working your way around it on the right side, and the ascend the peak on the right (north). After ascending this peak, most of the hard climbing is already out of the way. (This is the unnamed peak at Point 13,831.) From there, you go down a ways, then up to the final summit. Although we did not take this route up, we took it down, and it seemed like it would have been much easier to take it up as well. This ascent is not recommended without a topo map and knowledge of how to read them--but if you do know how to read one, then the route I'm describing should be clear when you look at the map.
