An online account and some pictures of this epic climb can be found here. This story originally appreared in a 1998 edition of the South African Out There magazine.
(The author of this article BTW was Duncan Elliot - a gifted climber himself, who was sadly killed in a climbing accident in Peru two years ago.)
I've read that article ( have it right here ). There are several factual mistakes though, and I always wonder where these things come from. We were in the snow cave for 5 weeks, not 64 days. And I was in the hospital before Christmas - I called my folks the day after Christmas so as to not bum out their holiday! Other than that it's pretty good!
I did find that the article was a bit overdramatised and flowery, rather than just letting the facts speak for themselves. Probably an attempt to make the story palatable and exciting for a non-climbing audience.
