Hasn't voted | Top Notch peak is another popular park destination (and has a page on sp), especially for skiing. Also, don't forget to check into seasonal bear closure areas. I know that the area around electric peak has a summer closure for off trail travel. | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the info and advice. The Yellowstone area is going to be a big project, so I'll be slowly improving the page as I have time. Any other advice/suggestions would always be appreciated. Now that you mention it, I remember the bear restrictions around Electric Peak, which I should probably add to that mountain page. Especially since I had some grizzly related problems in that area myself! Have a good one............... | |

Hasn't voted | Great start on what will no-doubt be a pretty major project. My only complaint is that this is SummitPost and the focus should be the mountains. It would be great to have a list of Yellowstone Peaks or something, even if they're not each on SP yet. I can probably contribute some photos from our trip last Sept. Let me do some digging around. | |

Hasn't voted | I understand your complaint, but this is not a mountain page, its a group page. There are already other National Park pages being submitted as groups. I don't really intend to fill this page up with photos of geysers, etc., although I've already seen others doing so since the switch to SP2. Currently there are only a few Yellowstone mountains in the SP database, but I'm assuming others will be added in time. Regardless, thanks for your comments, and taking the time to look. Hasn't voted | I don't know if listing all of the peaks in YNP is feasible. There are some worthy of mention that are not on SP. Eagle (highest), Sheridan, Stevenson, Doane and the others along the ridgeline east of the lake. These are a popular hiking destination to do in combination (especially by employees at Lake Hotel/Lodge). Barronette and Abiathar are big ice climbing objectives, and are outlined well in "Winter Dance", the area ice climbing guide. If you have questions, pm me here. I worked in the park for about 10 years, winter and summer, and am pretty familiar with history, regulations, and the backcountry. I'm pleased to help, but not so excited about maintaining a bunch of pages on the internet. Good start, BTW! | |

Hasn't voted | Thanks again for your comments and suggestions. I know there are gobs of mountains in Yellowstone, the majority of which are not on SP. For now I just wanted to create a grouping of Yellowstone peaks, but I certainly don't intend to be the one to submit them all! But that's the beauty of Summitpost; others will be free to submit these peaks as they climb them, if they are so inclined to create and maintain the pages. Have a good one............... | |

Voted 10/10 | I know you've already heard this from almost everyone else that has posted, but again, this is a huge project. I've been currently working at Lake Lodge for the past two seasons, and will be there for my third season this May. I have hundreds of pictures, mostly from hikes. When I wasn't working, I was on the trails(or off them). Let me know if I can be any help. I've recently built a Bunsen Peak page here on SP, which is a popular hike just south of the Mammoth area. Except for a few pictures, I'm fairly new to contributing anything to SP, especially my own mountain. Again, good luck. Being a Yellowstone fanatic, I'm looking forward to the page's progress. | |
